Wedding “down the aisle song” rather than here comes the bride.. something pretty and a little traditional?
Question by Michelle S: Wedding “down the aisle song” rather than here comes the bride.. something pretty and a little traditional?
i like the “grand entrance” part but I dont really like the song. What are some alternatives… i thought about “my heart will go on” w/o the singing… its done by harp- but that might be too slow/ and bad luck!?!?

We played Beethoven’s “Ode To Joy” at our wedding.

“Isn’t she lovely” by Stevie Wonder
Brain of J by Pearl Jam, the sweetest wedding song you’ll ever hear. Me and my bride waltzed down while it softly played and enthralled our guests, what a wonderful memory
how about “jesu joy of man’s desiring” i think that’s the name. it’s beautiful, you will recognize it when you hear it. don’t get a song with lyrics and put in an instrument for it; that is called MUZAK!
The theme from “Titanic” is not old enough to be traditional. For a solemn occasion one should avoid pop culture. Some weddings have used the Trumpet Voluntaire (by either Purcell or Clarke) as a processional.
chooce a song that you both love and like .
Canon in D
some where over the rainbow..
“Jesu Joy of Man’s desiring” is a famous piece for weddings and most organists know it.
Ave Maria is pretty.
I chose a celtic song called “Eternity is in This Moment”, it was very non-traditional but so am I.
I think “My Heart Will Go On” is pretty but I don’t think I would choose that one.
Good luck!
Pachobels cannon………on a harp is truly beatiful.
thats waht i had and everytime i hear it i am taken right back to my wedding day.and am filled with the same emotions.
Well you could use , I think it’s called Canon BAROQUE ENSEMBLE OF VIENNA.
CHEERS
Eva Maria. I always thought that is such a pretty song to walk to, and it’s a bit traditional as well. So is Pachelebell, Canon in D.
paccabells cannan ( i miss spelled the name.) it is not the traditional here comes the bride, but it is beautiful and commanly used. my sister used this.
go with brandys have you ever
Ave Maria.
“Don’t Cry for Me, Argentina” is lovely for a wedding!
We had Pachebel’s ‘Canon in D’ for the processional and ‘Ode to Joy’ for the recessional.
I felt the same way. I did Cannon in Dee. I havent had any bad luck with my marriage. Allthough, some people were dissapointed that I didnt walk down to here comes the bride. One of those people was my Dad. But, I dont regret it, I like to be different, thats why I did it.
I’m not familiar with the song you mentioned, and I don’t know if you like R&B but Luther Vandross has a wonderful wedding song called “Here and Now”. It”s elegant tastful and would difinetly let your husband know that this day signifies fourever. Good Luck!
Fabulous one I heard recently was Handel’s “Entrance of the Queen of Sheba” very impressive
My friend used music from a band by the name of Sigur Ros at his wedding recently. The album he used was simply called (). They have a few others also. Its soft music with little singing and all of the words are in Icelandic or a fictitious language called Hopelandic so its sounds very surreal or angelic. You can find their Cd’s at just about any Best Buy or other music shops. It might be worth checking out.
Try
Canon in D
As a church organist, my choice would be the Arrival of the Queen of Sheba by Handel.
Gabriel’s Oboe by Enrio Morricone (sp).
Actually, the bride going down the aisle is traditionally a march, the kind that is at a walking pace. If you want an alternative to the “Here
Comes the Bride” song [actually a Wedding March from an opera by Wagner], there is Jeremiah Clarke’s trumpet voluntary [usually played on the organ] called “Prince of Denmark’s March.” It is tuneful, happy, uplifting, and “grand entrance” in nature. John Stanley also wrote some nice trumpet voluntaries…
Pachelbel’s Canon
Any instrumental you enjoy is good, with a decent rhythm so you can judge how to walk in to it.
I had my flowergirls walk in to “Fairytale” by Enya. It was really lighthearted but with some deep tones in it as well.
I’ve been to weddings that played:
You are so beautiful
another one was The first time I saw your face
Trumpet Voluntary….that’s what I’m using in my wedding.
Spring by Vivaldi
Try some nick lachey songs like, “I do” or ” I swear” they are both beautiful and right for a wedding
well im getting married on sat.. the 30th.. and I picked a country song.. God Bless the Broken Road by Rascal Flatts.. if u listen to it.. u might like it.. best of luck!!
Best wishes! I got the O’Neil Brothers CD for our wedding. It sounds so pretty! Most of the songs (all instrumental) are played on the piano. I have attached the site so you can hear their music. What do you think about “What a Wonderful World” (Louis Armstrong) or “Forever in Love” (Kenny G.)? Hope this helps you!
I walked up the isle with this peice of music called “Paco Bell Canon”…it is very lovely!
i used shania twain “from this moment”. it was great, kind of like from this moment our lives are one.
i used ‘at last’ by etta james, very romantic song and has a good intro to catch everyones attention.
I absolutely fell in love with the O’Neill Brothers’ rendition of Canon in D. It’s simply beautiful!
weve chosen keeper of the stars because that is the first song hubby and i heard right after he came an introduced himself
