This is also a good way to spend far too much on wedding favors; it’s so easy to forget about how the cost adds up once you purchase enough favors for all your guests, especially considering tax, shipping charges, and anything else you may need for a beautiful presentation.
So how does a smart bride shop for wedding favors? There are a few simple steps you’ll want to keep in mind before you browse.
For one thing, what is your budget? If you’re having 100 guests and have a budget of 0 for wedding favors then remember that you can’t really spend two dollars per favors as you’ll need to figure in tax, shipping, and any other accessories for your favors such as wrapping paper or ribbon for each one. A 0 budget for 100 guests means about .50 per favor. When purchasing anything for your wedding you always want to leave yourself a little “wriggle room.”
Taking your time to browse is also a good idea when shopping for wedding favors. Remember that there are endless options for you; don’t just pick up the first nice candle or coffee packet you see. Give it some thought – what would really express something about you and your fiancée, your hobbies and interests, and your wedding overall? You don’t want to make your wedding favors too personal as they should be something your guests will appreciate, but you can balance these two if you think about it.
For example, if the two of you love to travel and are real “city” people, a small paperweight in the shape of the Eiffel Tower may be appreciated and can be very affordable. Most major museums have little key chains and other tokens that could work well as wedding favors so if you have a favorite museum you both love, go online and see what they may offer.
Or suppose you and your fiancée are very romantic; candle wedding favors are always a romantic choice and just about everyone can use a nice candle for their home or apartment. If you appreciate greenery and gardening, a small potted flowering plant can cost around one dollar and can be appreciate by just about anyone for their home or office. By giving some thought to your own personality and that of your fiancée, you can make a good choice by way of wedding favors that really express those personalities.
And when you’re shopping for wedding favors, don’t rule out something unique and original, and something you find at any retail store. If a beautiful set of note cards catch your eye, who says they can’t work as wedding favors? You can even mix and match designs if they coordinate – different flowers, different autumn designs, and so on.
Make sure your wedding favors work well with your reception’s theme and feel as well. If you’re having a very elegant and traditional wedding you might want to steer clear of the fun little trinkets. If you’re having a beach wedding then an autumn-themed favor might not make sense. Remember that many choices for wedding favors are available in a wide variety of options – candles in what look like little sand pails are great for beach weddings, picture frames that are wood rather than silver work better for an autumn wedding, and so on.
By giving some thought and making sure that you set aside some time to really shop and browse, you’ll be sure to choose the right wedding favors for you, the way any smart bride would!

All of us want to buy the best for our special wedding day and reception ranging from the best gown to the best food to the best possible wedding party favors. However, most of us are not lucky enough to have an unlimited amount of money to spend on our weddings and a budget has to be considered when planning a wedding.
Executing a good wedding with a limited budget always requires a lot of enterprise and planning, be it asking for a discount from your designer or getting a special deal from your caterer in order to get more for less. Wedding party favors are no exception to the rule, and you will only be able to provide favors that are cheap without looking it only after you spend some time and effort in planning your favors.
A smart bride can get away with giving away wedding party favors that look classy and cute for the same budget that a dumber bride will spend on getting tacky and cheap favors; the key here is to plan well in advance and determine your budget. When planning your wedding, list out all your expenses ranging from the wedding dress to the caterers and decorator’s fee in order to get the amount that is left for wedding favors. If you do not have an idea about how much everything will cost, then setting a budget of one to two dollars per guest for wedding party favors should be able to provide for gifts that look good without being expensive.

i was watching GMA the other day and this Lady got her wedding that she always dreamed of . it would have cost her more then 1,000 but she got it for under 0….
how you ask?
well she had a “fake ” cake made ( like the ones they use for display- with the decorations and all) , it looks and feels like a real cake… she even had pics of them cutting it.
but then they just got a couple of full sheet cakes from sams club and when the servers took the “cake ” back to cut and serve it they used the sheet cakes
oops sorry i thought i posted it under weddings

Why bother faking it? It sounds like too much trouble to me. My husband and I actually had a cake from Sam’s club-it looked good enough and it tasted really good.

I wasmarried a year ago+1day today and had a very disappointing 1st anniver. I was told not to say a piece of my wedding cake by the bakery because they would make me a mini wedding cake for my one year anniver. I did just that and when I asked for my anniver. cake,I called 2 weeks before as instructed and was told they don’t keep records and what type of cake was it they said ok it will be ready for me the day before my anniver. My husband and I went to pick up the cake and the cake was not even the same color(mine was a white buttercream frosted this was a chocolate) they said there was nothing they could do, we took the cake just to have a cake for our special day. My husband called back and they said we don’t make special cakes for the 1st anniver. you got your cake. I thought the whole point was to have your wedding cake on your 1st anniver. I had been to several bakery’s and they were all advertising this “free” 1st anniver. cake Victoria Sweets triangle area, NC

I’m not sure if that’s a scam or not or if you got a shady baker. I might report them to the local BBB or tv news if I was convinced I had been scammed and maybe that would prompt more brides to complain if a similar thing had happened. But really as long as the cake is prepped and stored properly then it should be fine for the first anniversary so they probably just didn’t want to add too many layers to your cake on the front end and figured giving you a cake on the back end would work out for them.
